Hold down Shift, select the text boxes that you want to group together, and then select Shape Format. Page orientation defines the direction for printing or displaying the document in Word, but one does not have to be the same for the entire document. When you group text boxes, you are combining them so that you can format, move, or copy them as a group. Select Rotate Left 90° to rotate the object 90 degrees to the left. In ArcMaps Draw toolbar, select Text, and click the map layout.
If the Word document or Excel table contains plain or formatted text, copy and paste the text into a new text box in ArcMap. Select Rotate Right 90° to rotate the object 90 degrees to the right. Insert only text from Microsoft Word or a text editor. You can also use the arrows to rotate the object exactly where you want.
